FAQs
Questions we hear from contractors
Not necessarily. The CRA determines worker classification based on the actual working relationship, not what your contract says or how your subcontractor describes themselves. If you’re not certain how your workers should be classified, talk to your accountant before the CRA raises the question first. Wagepoint issues T4s for employees and T4As for subcontractors and files both correctly once you know where everyone stands.
No. When a returning worker comes back, their record is already in your Wagepoint account. You re-activate them, update any details that have changed, and they’re in your next pay run. When the season ends, you deactivate them and issue their ROE directly from Wagepoint — once set up, it files electronically with Service Canada on your behalf.
Construction crews rarely work the same hours twice. One week it’s crunch time, the next the site’s rained out. Stat holiday pay is calculated based on average daily earnings over a recent reference period — but the formula shifts depending on which province your crew is working in. Wagepoint handles that automatically, so a long weekend doesn’t turn into a math problem.
Yes. Wagepoint handles employees and subcontractors in the same pay run. T4s go to your employees and T4As go to your subcontractors, both filed directly with the CRA. No separate systems, no manual adjustments.
